Sometimes it is nice to NOT be needed.
Who would have thought? Certainly not me.

My Least Favorite Things
By veronica lynn | August 18, 2008
The other night I saw a very funny ” Sound of Music” inspired episode of ” Will and Grace”.
It reminded me of a poem I wrote a few Christmas’ ago.
My Least Favorite Things
( A holiday worker’s spin on an old classic. See http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/thesoundofmusic/myfavoritethings.htm for original lyrics)
By: Veronica Lynn
Cash registers ringing, receipts being given
Sales on scarves and warm woolen mittens
Early bird specials and the shoppers they bring
These are a few of my least favorite things
Cream colored cars with the keys locked inside them
People describing their kid to me cause they can’t find him
Endless lines from my desk to the door,
These are the things that I find a bore!
People asking for endless directions
That they don’t listen to bringing them back again.
Packages left behind, drinks on the floor.
So aggravating- can’t take it any more!
When black Friday comes
Makes me so sad. Really I could cry
Why come to the mall at five in the morning
When those tacky sweaters you crave so bad,
Will still be there at nine.
* If you are one of those aforementioned early shoppers, I’ll forgive you if you come by my info. booth and say hi. ![]()

True Love
By veronica lynn | August 14, 2008
” Our culture has taught us to equate love with gratification- with getting rather than giving, with talking rather than sharing, with being our own persons rather than feeling a oneness with our mates. Therefore, it is not surprising that people go in and out of relationships since the returns are bound to fall short of their expectations.”
- Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis
” Things are not right because we have failed to folow the guidelines set before us by the Potter who made us, the Savior who died for us, and the Holy Spirit who is there to guide us.” - Diana Hagee, author of ” What Every Woman Wants in a Man”
” Empower yourselves with the strength of God to defuse situations that were designed by the enemy to destroy. Surrender to the Lord’s always greater wisdom and discernment.” -Diana Hagee
” Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” - 3 John 1:2 ( King James Version)

Word for Writers
By veronica lynn | August 14, 2008
“[ For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song. ] My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.”- Psalm 45:1 ( NIV)
“And my language and my message were not set forth in persuasive (enticing and plausible) words of wisdom, but they were in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit and power [[a proof by the Spirit and power of God, operating on me and stirring in the minds of my hearers the most holy emotions and thus persuading them].” - 1 Corinthians 2:4 (Amplified Version)

One Year Ago Today
By veronica lynn | August 14, 2008
One year ago today, I published my very first Blog here on this site.
Welcome to all the new Readers!
And to all of you Readers who not only supported this site in its beginning, but have honored me by choosing to remain, thank you so much!
I would love to give you a preview of what is in store for this site in the upcoming year.
But I cannot do that, since even I do not know yet what will occur.
I look forward to all of us making that discovery, hopefully along with many others, together this year.
Again, thank you so much for reading. This site would not be the same without you.

Diary- August 5, 2008 Sixth Entry
By veronica lynn | August 5, 2008
I looked on the menu and saw that the restaurant offered Banana Foster’s French Toast.
(I should have ordered it in honor of the other day… August 1, 2008)
Smiling I said, ” You’re introducing a new style, I see.”
He grinned: ” It’s not new. It’s classic. It’s the only good thing the French ever invented.”

Pilgrim’s Prayer
By veronica lynn | August 5, 2008
Pilgrim’s Prayer
Lord, love on me.
Restore life in me.
Grow joy in me,
Until I laugh with You again.
Quiet my heart.
Extend my hands.
Strenthen my feet,
Until I run with you again.
Jesus in my heart.
I’m worry free.
Lord, renew my mind,
Until You’re all I believe.

Diary- August 5, 2008 Fourth Entry
By veronica lynn | August 5, 2008
I really look up to Robin McGraw, who is married to Dr. Phil.
Robin, at her husband’s request, sits every day in the studio audience of the show, ” Dr Phil”.
Robin is also the author of a wonderful book titled, ” Inside My Heart.”
Robin seems to have discovered the art of being an ever supportive spouse while at the same time making her own special, individual impact on the world.
I want to be like that.

Diary- August 5, 2008 Third Entry
By veronica lynn | August 5, 2008
From its earliest airing on the radio, I have loved the following song.
But, since I heard it suggested on the radio that this song was written from the perspective of a song writer about maintaining artistic integrity, I have grown to appreciate it all the more.
The song has become a theme song for me, both in regards to my writing and my life.
Love Song
Sung by Sara Bareilles
Head under water
And you tell me to breathe easy for a while
breathing gets harder, even I know that
You made room for me but it’s too soon to see
If I’m happy in your hands I’m unusually hard to hold on to
Blank stares at blank pages
No easy way to say this
You mean well, but you make this hard on me
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you asked for it
’cause you need one, you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you tell me it’s
Make or breaking this
If you’re on your way
I’m not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I’m gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today
I learned the hard way
That they all say things you want to hear
And my heavy heart sinks deep down under you and
Your twisted words,
Your help just hurts
You are not what I thought you were
Hello to high and dry
Convinced me to please you
Made me think that I need this too
I’m trying to let you hear me as I am
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you asked for it
’cause you need one, you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you tell me it’s
Make or breaking this
If you’re on your way
I’m not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I’m gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today
Promise me that you’ll leave the light on
To help me see with daylight, my guide, gone
’cause I believe there’s a way you can love me
Because I say
I won’t write you a love song
’cause you asked for it
’cause you need one, you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you tell me it’s make or breaking this
Is that why you wanted a love song
’cause you asked for it
’cause you need one, you see
I’m not gonna write you a love song
’cause you tell me it’s make or breaking this
If you’re on your way
I’m not gonna write you to stay
If your heart is nowhere in it
I don’t want it for a minute
Babe, I’ll walk the seven seas when I believe that
There’s a reason to
Write you a love song today
