5 Bible Verses Every Girl Should Know

By: Bethany Beal

Different moments, experiences, challenges, and joys in my life have resulted in me latching onto specific verses in Scripture.

Verses that I’d studied or memorized.

Those verses became my lifeline. When it came to singleness, I always turned to Proverbs 3:5-6. When it came to purity of heart, I always turned to Psalm 51:10. The list goes on. I intentionally memorized and meditated on specific passages that I knew would help me when I needed them most.

Let’s just be real for a moment.

The Bible is big. It can be hard to know where to turn to when you’re dealing with a specific challenge in your life. Although we should always be learning, growing and developing in our relationship with God and in our understanding of scripture, I personally think it can be so helpful to memorize some crucial key passages.

Passages that you call to memory the moment you need them.

The amazing thing about memorizing these 5 key passages that I’m about to share with you, is that you can take them with you wherever you go. These 5 passages have helped me over and over again. I am confident that if you commit the time to these passages, they will help you as well.

5 Bible Verses Every Girl Should Know

1. Trust in God

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Seriously, this has been my all-time favorite passage for most of my life. I find that it helps in almost any situation. When I was struggling with singleness, I would meditate on this passage and make it my prayer. This passage has been a life-saver for me.

2. A Heart of Purity

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).

Whether it’s an impure thought, an unkind word, gossip, or something else, this is your passage. I often use this verse as a prayer to God. I ask Him to change my heart and make this true for me. I want a pure heart before God.

3. Love & Forgiveness

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32).

It can be so easy to forget what Christ has done for us. We forget how much we’ve been loved and forgiven. Instead of offering that same love and forgiveness to others, we hold them to an impossible standard. We harbor anger, bitterness, resentment, annoyance, and rude speech. Let’s choose to focus on the gospel and love others how Christ has loved us. Let’s choose to love with a pure self-sacrificing type of love.

4. Looking Out for Others

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:3-4).

So many of life’s problems come down to pride and selfishness. Can you imagine how much more joy and peace we would have in our lives if we applied this passage? Our friendships, relationships, and marriages would look radically different. Let’s pray for humility.

5. Worship and Praise

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8b).

This should be our life mantra. This should be the goal of everything we do. To worship God and bring glory to Him. God was, and is, and is to come. Instead of getting caught up in self-worship, let’s get caught up in Christ-worship. Let’s remember that life isn’t about us. It’s about our amazing Savior.

Which verses would you add to this list?

Those are a few verses that have greatly impacted my life and helped me to grow in my spiritual maturity and relationship with Christ.

I would love to hear from you though. Which of these verses do you want to commit to memory? How would that verse change your life if you truly believe it and lived it out?

Thank you for these verses! I really love Psalm 130:4 which says: “But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.” (ESV) It is a good verse to hold onto when I feel weighed down by my own sin.

I’ve been also using the Proverbs 3:5-6, I’ve been single for a long time. I tried not to be in a relationship with unbelievers eventhough the’re kind, it was tough, it seems I wouldn’t be able to meet a guy that meets my standards. Still I keep on praying then recently I’ve met this guy who fills in my standard. I was so aware that I’ve like him because He loves the Lord. We got to know each other shortly, and the more I get to know the more I like him. Our relationship is still in the stage of getting to know each other, and we just see each other only on the weekends. I don’t know if he is the guy God wants in my life but I feel like praying for him. And again this verse has reminded me to trust in the Lord with all of my heart. Yet it still hard, I feel like I’ve met the one I’ve been praying for a long time but I just don’t see any progress in our relationship if this will turn out into a romantic relationship. I always have the desires in my heart to get married to a Godly man. And thank, your blog has helped me in walking with the Lord esp in the season of waiting.

Good list! Proverbs 3:5-6 has been my life verse since I was 18, it might actually be my most favorite now! 🙂

    1 John 1:9 and 2:1-2 says,
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

This verse has been a pillar of comfort and strength to me! It reminds me that even though I may be unfaithful, God is still faithful to keep His promise to forgive me. All I have to do is confess my wrongdoing! That is a simple instruction, yet vital to claiming that promise. Not only will He forgive me of my sin but cleanse me from ALL unrighteousness. My purity can be restored!
Verses 1 and 2 of chapter 2 beautifully explain that Jesus Christ, our Lord, and our Advocate before the Father is the ultimate reason why we are able to be forgiven. My freedom from the bondage of sin is all because of His sacrifice for me! Praise God!

This verse gives me encouragement to get up when I’ve fallen; it has given me hope for the future and strength to face any other temptation that comes my way.

Thank you for these great suggestions! I additionally find Psalm 103 to be a great Psalm to memorize, as well as Psalm 139 when I am feeling lonely. It reminds me that I am God’s special creation. Thanks for the encouragement using God’s word 🙂
