Erotica: Should Christian Women Read It?

By: Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal

He’s stunningly handsome. She’s drop-dead gorgeous. He’s rich. She’s sexy. He desperately wants a woman in his life. She’s longing for some strong male attention.

They meet. They fall in love.

It’s not long before their steamy romance turns intensely sexual. Their fantasy seems too good to be true. What is portrayed as the perfect love story and sexual relationship entrances modern women with every page they turn.

This is erotica.

As it stands, “erotica is the fastest-selling genre of books selling to women.”

This genre of literature is created for one purpose and one purpose only — to stimulate and arouse sexual desire within you.

This is exactly why we, as women, are so drawn to erotica.

It captures our imagination, emotions, and sexual desires with stimulating words that draw us away from reality and into a dream world for a brief moment.

Whether you’re married or single, the two of us hope you can see how counterfeit and dangerous erotica truly is. It’s steamy, yes. But it’s just that — steam. It doesn’t last. It’s doesn’t fulfill.

It doesn’t satisfy.

Thank you so much for talking about this! I’ve heard about books like this (like Fifty Shades of Grey) before but I didn’t totally know what it was.
It’s all about guarding your heart and your mind for one guy and not tempting yourself so you don’t give yourself away before that special guy comes. You gals are awesome!! Thank you!!

I know that Fifty Shades of Grey (and the following book) has gotten quite famous, but I don’t actually know anyone who finished reading it: I know maybe a couple of people who tried to read it out of curiosity and then abandoned it after three pages because it was terribly written.

I just recently stumbled upon an erotica book in the library. I know I shouldn’t have read it, but I did. I can totally relate to this.
Your YouTube video is getting SLAMMED really bad. I can’t believe how mean people can be. PLEASE don’t ever stop your work for Jesus Christ. Those folks are only jealous of purity. Kristen and Bethany, you’re two of my biggest heroines! 🙂
