Should Christian Girls Celebrate Halloween?

By: Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal

We, as Christian girls, need to remember Whom we serve this Halloween day.

We need to remember our testimony to a lost and dying culture. We need to remember our call to be in the world but not of the world. We need to be shining lights in a culture of darkness.

Your decision on this issue is ultimately one that you have to make for yourself. This is just our personal take.

I totally agree you you girls! I think it is important for us to remain examples of Christ 365 days of the year. It’s really bothered me what many Christians do on Halloween… it’s like we’ve suddenly forgotten who we’re accountable to.

Exactly!! Halloween was just 3 days ago and from being friends with Christians who were saved later in life, its like they aren’t themselves anymore. Its like they think God cant see them for a few hours and then suddenly he can again. It does not work that way.

In my country is not a common celebration as in yours. In fact all mentions to halloween are forbidden in schools because is not a holiday from our country. Many clubs make thematic parties and a lot of stores put decorations about this holiday, but here you will never see a kid knocking your door and demanding candies. Even though we don’t have to get worried about it, I stand with you. I don’t see any purpose in this holiday other than get a costume and glorify darkness and its origins don’t get any better.

I’m starting to realize how dificult can be for north americans to be a Christian. Your country puts too much value in things that go against God design, such as this whole new trend of gender choices, sexuality, abortion, religion etc. My country and some others from this part of the continent were created under very deep Chatholic values, so things are a bit easier for us. Abortion is illegal in many countries including mine, the same for gay marriage and adoption. Satanism is not well received and Christians are free to preach in the streets or in jails, even the Gideons can go to schools and give new testaments to the kids. Many schools allow praying and even let pastors to be counselors for the parents.

I thank God for these oportunities we still have and pray for you so you can stay firm and be a leader for those who still haven’t found the strength to say no to this world. You girls are one of those leaders and I admire you for speaking your mind and standing firm against what this modern society wants to push down our throats.

I totally agree that Halloween is the devils holiday. It is so evil. My family shines the light at this time. We put up our nativity and light it up on Halloween every year. Then, we spend the day praying and in Worship. It is a great time to do Bible study.
