Top 5 Most Popular and Shared Posts from 2015

By: Kristen Clark

Whether you’ve been reading the GirlDefined blog for a while or you’re new to our website, we are SO excited to enter this brand new year with you.

God is so good and He’s done amazing things in your lives (as we’ve learned from the many emails you all have sent us), and we praise Him for that!

Some of you have shared how God used the GirlDefined blog posts to help you overcome the darkest of sins, relationship struggles, guy complications, unfulfilled longings, growing in your walk with God, and much, much more.

For that, we raise a glass of sparkling grape juice and joyously say, “Amen! God is good!”

We, Kristen and Bethany, launched GirlDefined in 2014 with the prayer that God would use this ministry to do exactly what it’s doing: Help you fight the lies of our culture, discover God’s truth, and embrace your God-Defined identity as a daughter of the King.

During the year of 2015, we published 156 new blog posts on the GirlDefined Blog!

That’s a lot…and we’re guessing you probably didn’t catch every single one. Since you probably don’t have time to “catch up” on the archives (although that’s not a bad idea), I thought I’d ring in the New Year by bringing you the very BEST of 2015.

These are the top 5 most popular and shared blog posts of 2015.

If you haven’t read them, I HIGHLY recommend it. There’s no better way to start your year off right than filling your mind with truth.

Drumroll please……

And I give you the most popular, most shared, and most read posts from 2015 from #5 down to to #1.

#5: Keeping Marriage Straight: Why the Bible Never Recognizes “Gay Marriage”

We live in a country where marriage has now been officially redefined and legalized to include “any two people who love each other, regardless of gender.” However, the Bible never ever (not even once) recognizes or acknowledges a homosexual marriage.

In fact, the Bible never, even negatively, refers to a homosexual person as being in a “marriage relationship.” Read Full Post Here.

#4: The Value of Waiting Until You’re of Marrying Age to Consider a Relationship

Romantic relationships bring a lot of chemistry and jive between two people. I personally think that it’s foolish to allow that romantic chemistry with a guy into your life with no hope of satisfying it with marriage any time soon.

Before you say “yes” to a dating/courtship relationship, ask yourself why? Why should I say yes? What’s the purpose of the relationship? What’s the goal? Will this relationship help me better serve God at this season of my life? Read Full Post Here.

#3: The Bikini is Destroying the Christian Girl’s View of Modesty

This piece of clothing was considered so scandalous that mainstream models refused to wear it. In 1946 a man named Louis Réard designed and introduced the bikini.

What was once considered so risqué that only a nude dancer would wear it, is now the most popular form of swimwear available today. It took less than 50 years for this “scandalous” swimsuit to gain international popularity amongst women. Read Full Post Here.

#2: It Takes a Strong Girl to Obey God’s Word

Our culture is not pushing us as Christian girls towards true strength. If anything, they are encouraging us to be wimpy women. We are being fed the messages day in and day out to believe in ourselves, to follow our feelings and to live for our own desires.

Way too often I’ve bought into that mindset and wimped out. I’ve allowed the culture to shape my views and given into my emotions and whims. Read Full Post Here.

#1: Why I Didn’t Wear a Strapless Wedding Dress

Some of you might be wondering why I would enforce such burdensome standards upon myself? I mean, seriously…your wedding is a special and unique day, right? Couldn’t I just loosen up a little and wear an elegant strapless dress like everyone else?

Those are some really great questions, and ones I had to personally wrestle with. Was it really necessary to be so “modest?” Read Full Post Here.

And there you have it!

Those are the top 5 most popular and shared posts from 2015. I highly recommend taking the time to read each one as you launch into the new year. God is good and we (Kristen and Bethany) can’t wait to see what He is going to do in YOUR life this coming year!

If you’re looking for additional ways to be challenged as a Christian girl, I encourage you to read our 30 Day Devotional called Reaching Beyond Myself, as well as our new ebook, Project Modesty.

It’s hard to believe that the blog has only been around since 2014! I’ve enjoyed reading it so much! I loved the blog post y’all did “It Takes A Strong Women To Obey God’s Word!” It really gave me a different perspective. Can’t wait to see what other awesome blog posts y’all will have for us!

I only found girl defined recently, and it was clearly by God’s direction. I was shopping at a Walmart with my Mom, and as this elderly gentleman passed us in an isle, he stopped to remind us that God loves us. We smiled and returned the “God bless,” and continued shopping, but he later came into the same checkout line behind us and we struck up the conversation again. He mentioned that He went to a certain church that we knew of, and we found out we were in the same denomination. He then started talking to me about his adopted nieces and that they had a blog for girls that I should check out–called girl defined. I later looked it up for grins….I wish I could thank him, because God has used your ministry to change my life in so many ways! Just wanted to share this with you and thank you for the diligence you have poured into sharing God’s word!

Thank you so much, Bethany and Kristen, for all you have done on this blog. Thank you for your love for Jesus and pouring it out to us readers. Probably the biggest thing for me this year was that I started school at a secular college. Reflecting on my experiences, I have realized that much of my school is drowning in human-based philosophy and cultural trends, and the problem is that they don’t know any better! In this coming year, I am planning to post lots of your articles in places around my campus. My heart breaks for them and I wish they knew the truth. Your ministry has tremendously helped me even more as I started my college journey.
